Keene Public Library Hosts Office Hours for Human Services Organizations

Keene Public Library is pleased to announce partnerships with human service organizations that will offer office hours. Organizations providing direct services to residents will be available at Keene Public Library weekly to share information with interested citizens and assist library staff in providing better reference services to visitors. The Keene Public Library is located at 60 Winter Street.

Better Life Partners, the Serenity Center, and Monadnock Family Services are the first organizations in the partnership. Better Life Partners assists people with substance use issues, and the Serenity Center assists those with alcohol use issues. A Monadnock Family Services PATH Outreach Specialist will help those dealing with serious mental health issues and experiencing homelessness.

Interested individuals may drop in anytime for information. Starting this Friday, January 7, Better Life Partners and the Serenity Center will share office hours every Friday from 1-3 p.m. in the Eppes Room at the Keene Public Library. As of Wednesday, January 12, Monadnock Family Service PATH will be available in the Eppes Room on second and fourth Wednesdays, 1- 3 p.m.

Keene Public Library serves as an information center to foster connections between organizations and those in need of information for themselves or their loved ones. Keene Public Library Director, Marti Fiske, was inspired by larger libraries that added social workers to their staff. Fiske said, “We recognized the need to connect service organizations with people who needed their services. We cannot fund a social worker, but we can invite organizations to come to the library. Keene Public Library staff will also be able to seek help from the partner organizations for material recommendations for our collections, to help us serve patrons who arrive outside of the program’s office hours, and to make connections with other community organizations.”
