Beginning September 1, 2021, the City of Keene, Public Works Department will be replacing the Colony Court Sewer Main. The work will occur on Wright Street and easements off Colony Court and Chase Place. The reconstruction project consists of the following:
- Replace existing sewer and storm drain in the easement off Colony Court
- Replace sewer and water mains on Wright Street including service laterals up to the property line
- Replace 100 feet of sewer main in the easement off Chase Place.
- Replace existing asphalt sidewalk with concrete sidewalk with granite curbs and repave Wright Street
This sewer replacement project includes individual sewer connections at no cost to the homeowner. Because the project will remove and replace a portion of the sewer pipes serving your property, there will also be some temporary, short-term water and sewer service interruptions. The City will provide temporary water and a notice 3 days in advance via door place card of any planned sewer disruption. The construction contractor is allowed to disrupt the sewer service for a maximum of 6 hours, but interruptions will typically be much shorter.
The Contractor for this project will be J.A. MacDonald, Inc. You may see their staff and equipment preparing the site as soon as this week. Construction is scheduled to begin on September 1, 2021, and will last for approximately three months. During this time, you may encounter some minor disruption to vehicle and pedestrian traffic, including lane and sidewalk closures in the vicinity of the work. Please be patient with us as we complete these important improvements to our utility network. Although the work area will be properly marked and barricaded, drivers and pedestrians should use extra caution when they are near open excavations or construction equipment.
In some circumstances, City staff and our contractor may need to access your home (for example, if you do not have an outdoor faucet). If this occurs, we will contact you directly to arrange a time that is convenient for you. Under no circumstance will our contractor enter your home without a representative of the City of Keene present. City staff will always identify themselves with a City-issued photo ID badge.
