The Public Works Director has issued a Winter Weather Parking Ban starting tomorrow, Tuesday, December 2, 2025, at 12:00 PM. This ban includes all on-street parking, except any paid parking spaces (metered or kiosk). The parking ban will expand to include all paid parking (metered and kiosk) beginning at 10:00 PM on Tuesday night.

All parking bans (free and paid parking) will be lifted as of 8:00 AM on Wednesday, December 3, 2025.

While this parking ban is in effect, the Gilbo East, Elm Street, and Wells Street parking lots will remain open overnight for public use in the marked public (not reserved) spaces. (Please note: parking rates apply in parking lots Monday-Saturday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM. If you are using these alternative parking options between 8:00 AM and 5:00 PM, you are responsible for paying the normal parking fees.)

The Public Works Dir

Snow is Coming!
When inclement weather is in the forecast, the Public Works Director will declare a Winter Weather Parking Ban with at least 6 hours’ advance notice. During a parking ban, no vehicles or trailers can be parked overnight on City streets or in public on-street parking spaces. Certain public parking lots will be available for overnight parking – check the notification or online maps at bit.ly/banlots to see which lots are open on which nights. (Be careful to park in the public spaces, and not in the reserved spaces.)

Get Notified – Notifications will be sent via email, text message, Facebook, Instagram, and the keenenh.gov/project/parkingban/ page. These notifications will specify the start date and time of the ban and include links to information such as alternative off-street parking locations. Please be alert and prepared to move your vehicle during a ban to avoid ticketing and towing.

Parking Lot Options During a Parking Ban – Certain public parking lots will be available to provide alternative overnight parking options.
