The State has confirmed that there was no bacteria found in the second (confirmatory) water tests from the samples submitted yesterday. Therefore, the precautionary boil-water advisory has been lifted, effective immediately, and people may resume use of the City water system.

There are many to thank for their significant efforts in responding to the major water main break and resolving the situation quickly. The Public Works team worked immediately and around the clock, and staff teams across the organization cooperated to assist the community in managing during the boil water advisory. The generosity of C&S Wholesale Grocers in promptly donating over 2,000 cases of bottled water is appreciated sincerely. Most importantly, the public’s cooperation and patience is truly an encouragement and indicative of the community spirit that makes Keene so special.

Detailed information regarding this emergency as well as information required by NH DES about the health impacts of contaminated water are posted at KeeneNH.gov/news/water. Please contact the Public Works Department with any questions. Questions may be submitted online at KeeneNH.gov/contact-keene, with the SeeClickFix app, or by phone: (603) 352-6550.

The State has confirmed that there was no bacteria found in the first water tests from the samples submitted yesterday. They require a confirmatory sample which was sent this afternoon, and those test results are expected by about 4:30 P.M. tomorrow at which point a determination will be made about whether to lift the boil-water advisory. Until then, the advisory remains in effect.

We are very grateful for the support of people and organizations in this wonderful community. We also appreciate the incredible hard work and time our Public Works team has invested thus far. We will post an update tomorrow as soon as we have confirmatory test results and status of the boil-water advisory.
