Stay Safe As Extreme Cold Arrives ❄️
See info here about a) steps you can take to be #WinterReady and b) a winter warming shelter option.

We are facing a stretch of dangerously cold weather with temperatures expected to drop well below zero. Please take a moment to look out for yourselves, your neighbors, and your pets.

Dress in Layers: Wear several layers of loose-fitting, lightweight, warm clothing. Remember a hat and mittens; they are more effective than gloves at keeping your hands warm.

Stay Indoors: Limit your time outside as much as possible to prevent frostbite and hypothermia.

Heat Safely: If you are using a space heater, keep it at least three feet away from anything flammable. Never use a gas oven or stovetop to heat your home.

Protect Your Pipes: Allow faucets to drip slightly to help prevent water pipes from freezing.

Temporary Cold Weather Shelter Now Open: The City has worked with the UCC Church and Hundred Nights to establish a winter warming shelter to support our unhoused neighbors during the coldest months of the season.
Location: UCC Church, Keene
Intake Hours: 9:00 p.m. – 10:00 p.m.
Stay: Guests may remain until 7:00 a.m.
Availability: Operating nightly through the end of March.
