Local low-level flights Near Keene

Many people have noticed an aircraft flying at low altitudes around the Monadnock region in the last few weeks. These flights are part of a US Geological Surveys project to conduct smart mapping of the area over Keene NH and into Massachusetts and Connecticut.

The aircraft used for these flights is a Cessna Caravan similar to the attached photo, they will be flown by experienced pilots who are trained and approved for low-level flying. These pilots work with the FAA to ensure flights are safe and in accordance with FAA regulations.

More information about these flights can be found on the USGS website below.

The State has confirmed that there was no bacteria found in the second (confirmatory) water tests from the samples submitted yesterday. Therefore, the precautionary boil-water advisory has been lifted, effective immediately, and people may resume use of the City water system.

There are many to thank for their significant efforts in responding to the major water main break and resolving the situation quickly. The Public Works team worked immediately and around the clock, and staff teams across the organization cooperated to assist the community in managing during the boil water advisory. The generosity of C&S Wholesale Grocers in promptly donating over 2,000 cases of bottled water is appreciated sincerely. Most importantly, the public’s cooperation and patience is truly an encouragement and indicative of the community spirit that makes Keene so special.

Detailed information regarding this emergency as well as information required by NH DES about the health impacts of contaminated water are posted at KeeneNH.gov/news/water.
