Construction Updates 5/26/26-5/29/26

The City of Keene announces several construction activities beginning the week of May 26, 2026. Motorists, residents, and pedestrians are advised to plan accordingly, expect delays, and use caution in active work zones.

  • Marlboro Street: On Tuesday, May 26, 2026 starting at 7:00 AM, the City’s contractor, Bazin Brothers, will continue pavement milling on Marlboro Street between Baker Street and Eastern Avenue, this work is anticipated to take two days, pavement shimming will be performed the remainder of the week . In order to safely perform this scope of work, Marlboro Street at the location(s) of the active construction limits will be established as alternating one way traffic. This traffic setup and associated scope of work is anticipated to be completed by the end of the week, Friday, May 29, 2026. Traffic will be restored to normal operating conditions at the end of each business day during this work.   
  • Island Street: On Tuesday, May 26, 2026 starting at 7:00 AM, the City’s contractor, SUR West, will be performing repairs to the concrete sidewalk and preparing the road surface for paving later in the week. In order to safely perform this work, Island Street at Winchester Street will be closed and detoured by means of Pearl street and traffic in proximity to the work zone will be established as alternating one way traffic. This traffic setup and associated scope of work is anticipated to take two weeks to complete and traffic will be restored to normal operating conditions at the end of each business day during this work.   
  • City Hall Parking Garage: On Tuesday, May 26, 2026 starting at 7:00 AM, The City’s contractor, Structural Preservation Systems, will be continuing selective demolition and concrete repairs for City Hall Parking garage. This work will continue all week and is anticipated to take roughly another month to complete the scope of work on the project. 
  • Willow Street: Starting Tuesday, May 26, 2026 at 8:00 AM the City’s contractor, BC Construction, will be excavation in preparation of installing new sidewalk on Willow Street.  In order to safely perform this work Willow Street at the location of active construction will be established as alternating one way traffic.  This work will continue all week and is anticipated to take approximately 28-calendar days total to install the sidewalk on Willow Street. Traffic will be restored to normal operating conditions at the end of each business day during construction. 
  • Green Acres Road: Starting on Tuesday, May 26, 2026 at 8:00 AM, L&M Landscaping will be repairing an existing sewer lateral in proximity to 34 Green Acres Road . In order to safely perform this work Green Acres Road at the location of active construction will be established as alternating one way traffic. This traffic setup and scope of work is anticipated to take three days to complete and normal traffic operating conditions will be restored at the end of each working day.   
  • Bartholomew Court (Public Works) and Cheshire Rail Trail Connector: Starting Wednesday, May 27, 2026 at 7:00 AM the City’s contractor, Bazin Brothers, will be installed concrete sidewalk on Bartholemew Court and the Cheshire Rail Trail connector to Marlboro Street. In order to safely perform this work traffic will be maintained as alternating one way traffic. This work is anticipated to take two (2) weeks and traffic will be restored to normal operating conditions at the end of each business day.   
  • Court Street @ Cheshire Medical Center: Starting on Friday, May 29, 2026 at 8:00 AM, Faulker Landscaping will be working on the landscaping in the traffic circle island in proximity to the Cheshire Medical Center located at 580 Court Street. The work is anticipated to take one week and is not anticipated to impact normal traffic operations.   
  • George Street Bridge Replacement: The contractor will not be working the week of May 25, 2026 and the road will be open to normal traffic conditions.
