Construction Projects and Updates 6/22/26 – 6/26/26

The City of Keene Public Works Department announces the following construction and maintenance activities scheduled for the week of June 22, 2026:

Marlboro Street Reconstruction Project: On Monday, June 22, the City’s contractor Bazin Brothers will be performing full road box out, installing gravel and removing, replacing and resetting granite curb on Marlboro Street from Main Street to Eastern Avenue. In order to safely perform the this work, traffic lanes may be established as alternating one way and 2-way shifted traffic within the limits of the work zone. 

George Street Bridge Replacement: Starting on Monday, June 22, George Street, at the George Street bridge, will be closed and traffic detoured to remove and replace the existing bridge. This work is anticipated to take roughly 4 months to complete. Additional updates will be provided as the project progresses.    

Key Road: Starting on Thursday, June 25, at 7 PM, the City’s contractor, Park Construction, will be relocating the water main in proximity to 63 Key Road. To safely perform the work alternating one way traffic will be established. This work is anticipated to take two days, and traffic will be restored to normal operations by 7 AM each day.  Work will resume starting Monday, June 29, 2026, to install the box culvert across Key Road and between #63 and #55, within the City’s drainage easement. 

Eastern Avenue and THT Trail Head: On Monday, June 22, the City’s contractor, Gordon’s Property Services and Maintenance, will continue construction on the Transportation Heritage Trail project near the Trail Head parking at Eastern Avenue.  To safely perform this work alternating one way traffic will be established at times. Work in this area is anticipated to take 2 weeks to complete, weather permitting. Traffic will be restored to normal operating conditions at the end of each business day.   

Island Street: On Wednesday June 24, starting at 9 AM, the City’s contractor, SUR West and their subcontractor, will be installing road pavement markings, weather permitting. To safely perform this work Island Street in proximity to the work zone will be established as alternating one way traffic. This traffic setup and associated work is anticipated to be completed by the end of the day, and traffic will be restored to normal operating conditions.

City Hall Parking Garage: On Monday, June 22, the City’s contractor, Structural Preservation Systems, will continue the selective demolition and concrete repairs of City Hall Parking Garage. This work is anticipated to be completed in the first week of July, weather permitting.

Willow Street: On Monday, June 22, the City’s contractor, BC Construction, will be completing clean up of the installed sidewalk on Willow Street.  To safely perform this work Willow Street, at the location of active construction, will be closed to thru traffic during concrete pouring. Alternating one way traffic will be established during other periods of active construction.  This work is anticipated to be complete by the end of the day, and traffic will be restored to normal operating conditions. 

Gardner Street: Starting on Monday, June 22, the City’s contractor, BC Construction, will be starting excavation for the proposed curb and sidewalk installation on Gardner Street.  To safely perform this work Gardner Street, at the locations of active construction, will be established as alternating one way traffic.  This work is anticipated to be completed by July 1, 2026, weather permitting. Traffic will be restored to normal operating conditions at the end of each business day. 

South Lincoln Street: On Tuesday, June 23, at 8 AM, Arbor Climb will be removing a tree in proximity to 89 South Lincoln Street. To safely perform this work the sidewalk along South Lincoln Street, in proximity to the work zone, will be closed, and South Lincoln Street will be established as alternating one way traffic. This traffic setup and associated work is anticipated to be completed by the end of the day.

Summer Street: On Tuesday, June 23, at 8 AM, Arbor Climb will be removing a tree in proximity to 60 Summer Street. To safely perform this work the sidewalk along Summer Street, in proximity to the work zone, will be closed, and Summer Street will be established as shifted two-way traffic. This traffic setup and associated work is anticipated to be completed by the end of the day. The City of Keene appreciates the public’s patience and cooperation. Motorists are encouraged to use caution in construction zones, follow posted signage, and expect minor delays.
