Construction Projects and Updates 6/29/26

The City of Keene Public Works Department announces the following construction and maintenance activities scheduled for the week of June 22, 2026:

Marlboro Street: On Monday, June 29, 2026, the City’s contractor, Bazin Brothers, will be continuing construction on the Marlboro Street Reconstruction project; performing full road box out, installing gravel. paving and removing, replacing and resetting granite curb on Marlboro Street from Main Street to Eastern Avenue. In order to safely perform the scope of this work, traffic may be required to be established as alternating one way and/or 2-way shifted traffic within the limits of the active work zone. 

Key RoadBeginning Monday, June 29, 2026, at 7:00 AM, the City’s contractor, Park Construction, will install a box culvert on Key Road near 68 Key Road. To safely complete this work, traffic will be reduced to alternating one-way traffic and may be detoured as needed during construction. The work is expected to take approximately two days. Once the installation is complete, traffic will return to normal operations. The box culvert will be installed across Key Road within the City’s drainage easement between 55 Key Road and 63 Key Road.

Eastern Avenue and THT Trail Head: Beginning Monday, June 29, 2026, the City’s contractor, Gordon’s Property Services and Maintenance, will continue construction on the Transportation Heritage Trail project near the trailhead parking area on Eastern Avenue. To safely complete this work, alternating one-way traffic will be in place at times on Eastern Avenue near the trailhead parking area and the Transportation Heritage Trail crossing. This work is expected to take approximately two weeks to complete, weather permitting. Traffic will be restored to normal operations at the end of each business day.

City Hall Parking Garage: On Monday, June 29, 2026 the City’s contractor Structural Preservation Systems, will be continuing the remaining overhead concrete repairs of the City Parking garage. This work will continue all week and is anticipated to be completed in the first full week of July, weather permitting.

George Street Bridge ReplacementOn Monday, June 29, 2026 demolition of the former George Street will continue, and sewer and drain utilities on the West side of the bridge and the support of excavation system will be installed. George Street will be closed, and traffic will be detoured for the remainder of the construction. This project scope of work is anticipated to take roughly 4 months to complete, additional updates will be provided as the project progresses.    

Gardner Street: Beginning Monday, June 29, 2026, the City’s contractor, BC Construction, will complete sidewalk installation, loam placement, seeding, and final cleanup work on Gardner Street. To safely perform this work, alternating one-way traffic will be in place in the active construction areas on Gardner Street. The work is expected to be completed by Wednesday, July 1, weather permitting. Traffic will be restored to normal operations at the end of each business day during construction.

Arch Street: Starting on Thursday, July 1, 2026 at 8:00 AM, Pat Rawson Construction, Inc will be installing a new water service and new sewer lateral in proximity to 134 Arch Street. In order to safely perform this work, the access drive to Langdon Place and Arch Street may need to be established as one-way alternating traffic. This work is anticipated to take two days to complete, and traffic will be restored to normal operating conditions at the end of each working day.

Dunbar Street: Starting on Tuesday, June 30, 2026 at 7:00 AM, CW Davis Construction will be replacing a sewer lateral in proximity to 65 Dunbar Street. In order to safely perform this work Dunbar Street will be established as one way alternating traffic. This work is anticipated to be completed, and traffic will be restored to normal operations by the end of the day.

South Street: Starting on Wednesday, July 1, 2026 at 7:00 AM, CW Davis Construction will be replacing a sewer lateral in proximity to 8 South Street. In order to safely perform this work Dunbar Street will be established as one-way alternating traffic. This work is anticipated to be completed, and traffic will be restored to normal operations by the end of the day.

Public Works, 350 Marlboro Street: Starting on Monday, June 29, 2026 the City’s contractor, Bazin Brothers Trucking, will be starting construction on the Public Works parking lot reconstruction project. In order to safely perform this work, visitor parking will be relocated to the parking lot immediately adjacent to Bartholomew Court, this work is anticipated to take one month, weather permitting. 

The City of Keene appreciates the public’s patience and cooperation. Motorists are encouraged to use caution in construction zones, follow posted signage, and expect minor delays.
