The City of Keene and the Town of Londonderry filed a class action lawsuit against 3M Company, several DuPont-related entities, and others to recover the costs to replace firefighter turnout gear containing PFAS chemicals. The lawsuit alleges that the defendant companies made PFAS, PFAS products for use in turnout gear, and turnout gear containing PFAS. The complaint alleges that the companies have known for many years that turnout gear containing PFAS was not suitable for the protection of firefighters’ health, safety, and physical well-being but misled the public about those risks and continued to promote their PFAS turnout gear products as safe and appropriate for widespread use.
