We are happy to share some upcoming enhancements to parking in downtown Keene, made possible by changes in demand and inspired directly by your feedback. We have added some convenient options for downtown employees, residents, and visitors, and we are implementing some zone flexibility features.
Zone Flexibility is Coming – Starting in Early May
Thanks to input from residents, business owners, and visitors, we are merging some parking zones throughout downtown to expand parking location options within the amount of time paid for. Starting in early May, multiple existing zones will be consolidated into single, larger zones.
Example: Central Square, which previously involved multiple parking zones, will now be designated as one single zone. This change allows for more flexibility — if you paid for parking in the zone and need to move your car to a different spot within the same zone, your original payment and time limit still apply. Additional zones on Main Street, Court Street, Washington Street, and other areas will also be expanded.
Coming Soon: Text to Park We are also rolling out a “Text to Park” program to make paying for parking easier. Stay tuned — more details coming soon.
Expanded Afternoon and Evening Options at the Wells Street Parking Garage – Downtown Employee Permits, Overnight Permits, and Free Public Parking
- Downtown Employee Parking Permits are now available at a discounted rate for spaces on the ground level from 3:00 PM to 1:00 AM. Permit fees for this reserved parking option are $30 per month, billed quarterly.
- Overnight Reserved Public Parking Permits are now available for spaces on the ground level from 5:00 PM to 8:00 AM. Permit fees for this reserved parking option are $250 per quarter.
- Expanded Free Public Evening Parking is now available in certain spaces on the upper level from 4:00 PM to 1:00 AM (previously starting at 5:00 PM).
