The City’s Pavement Preservation Project has been rescheduled to Tuesday, August 5, 2025 and Wednesday, August 6, 2025. Work will take place both Tuesday and Wednesday at the following times and locations:
- Park Avenue from Summit Road to Maple Avenue: 8:00 AM to 10:00 AM
- West Street from Base Hill Road to Park Avenue: 9:30 AM to 12:30 PM
- Edgewood neighborhood (Edgewood, Greenwood, Kenworth, Leawood, Lynwood, Riverton, Walker): 12:00 PM to 4:30 PM
This two-part process, called “micro-surfacing,” includes the placement of an asphalt slurry to seal and smooth the existing road. Once the wet material is placed, traffic cannot pass until it has cured. Doing so will damage the finished surface and risk the transfer of asphalt material onto vehicles.
Once the sealer is applied, listed roads will be temporarily closed for up to two hours, including all driveways and street access from adjacent neighborhoods.
Detours will be posted, and traffic personnel will assist in directing vehicles away from the work area. Drivers are encouraged to seek alternate routes during the specified work hours.
- Park Avenue traffic will be detoured to Summit Road and Maple Avenue.
- Commuter traffic through Bradford Road should avoid West Street via Arch Street or Park Avenue.
- At times the Keene Country Club may only be accessed from Base Hill Road.
