The City of Keene Public Works Department will be working in the downtown area beginning on Thursday, November 21, 2024, at 11:30 PM.

The Downtown Infrastructure Improvement Project final design recommendation will be presented at a City Council MSFI Committee meeting in December.  The MSFI meeting to be scheduled in December will be a public meeting, and it is likely the final opportunity for public input in the design process. Construction for the first phase, Central Square, is scheduled to begin in May 2025. There are multiple ways for the public to stay informed and communicate with us as the project proceeds. On-Street Parking Will Only Be Prohibited During Storms

The Public Works Department would like to remind the community that New Hampshire law and City ordinances prohibit the placement of signs within the City’s public rights-of-way.

What’s next with the Downtown Infrastructure Improvement & Reconstruction Project?

There are many signs currently placed on public property, including campaign signs. They are showing up in roundabouts, parks, sidewalks, along the roadside, etc.

On Monday, April 24, 2023, the Island Street Bridge will be closed to vehicular traffic. Access to Pearl Street from Winchester Street will also be restricted.
