Extreme Cold Preparedness
Being #WinterReady means acknowledging potential winter hazards and implementing storm preparedness measures today. Find additional important information on Ready.gov with resources for being Winter-Ready and Extreme Cold Safety.
During extreme cold weather, please remember to check on elderly neighbors and others in our community who may need assistance.
- Dress in Layers: Wear several layers of loose-fitting, lightweight, warm clothing.
- Remember a hat and mittens; they are more effective than gloves at keeping your hands warm.
- Stay Indoors: Limit your time outside as much as possible to prevent frostbite and hypothermia.
- Heat Safely: If you are using a space heater, keep it at least three feet away from anything flammable.
- Never use a gas oven or stovetop to heat your home.
- Protect Your Pipes: Allow faucets to drip slightly to help prevent water pipes from freezing.

- Intake hours: 9:00PM – 10:00PM
