Municipal clerks are entrusted with critical responsibilities including the administration of elections, the management and preservation of official municipal records, and the support of transparent and accountable government operations.
The Keene City Clerk’s Office is recognized for its longstanding commitment to accuracy, integrity, and responsive service, serving residents, elected officials, and partner agencies as a trusted source of information. The office also serves as a steward of the City’s history, preserving vital records that document Keene’s past for future generations, while continuing to strengthen its professional expertise through ongoing training and development.
From issuing marriage licenses and dog registrations to supporting the Keene City Council in its role as the City’s governing body, the City Clerk’s Office remains a cornerstone of effective municipal operations. Mayor Jay V. Kahn proclaims May 3 through May 9, 2026, as Municipal Clerks Week in the City of Keene and extends appreciation to City Clerk Terri M. Hood and her dedicated staff for their exemplary service to the community.
