Our department includes several specialized divisions that work collaboratively to support City operations:
- Administration: Provides leadership, policy development, and resource management to ensure departmental effectiveness.
- Engineering: Oversees design, construction, and capital improvement planning for transportation and utility systems.
- Fleet Services: Maintains the city’s vehicles and equipment to support efficient public works operations.
- Highway Division: Maintains Keene’s roads, bridges, sidewalks, traffic signs, and multi-use trails to ensure year-round mobility and safety.
- Water Treatment Facility (Drinking Water): Treats and delivers safe, high-quality drinking water to Keene residents and the North Swanzey Water and Fire Precinct, meeting all state and federal standards.
- Wastewater Treatment Plant: Operates advanced treatment systems for sanitary wastewater and manages disposal for recreational vehicle waste.
- Water/Sewer Division: Manages water distribution, fire protection, and sewer infrastructure across the city.
- Laboratory Services: A state-accredited facility providing drinking water, wastewater, and groundwater testing and analysis.
- Recycling Center/Solid Waste Division: Provides comprehensive solid waste disposal and recycling services, supporting waste diversion and sustainability goals.
