Respiratory Illnesses On The Rise Locally

January 4, 2024

Local wastewater is tested to monitor the prevalence of the virus that causes COVID-19 as well as Flu and RSV, and this helps determine if levels in a community are going up, down, or staying level. According to recent tests as reported by NH DHHS (https://dashboard.nh.gov/.../COVID.../PHL), levels are presently increasing in our region. Please follow CDC guidelines (https://www.cdc.gov/respiratory-viruses/index.html) to prevent getting sick and to prevent the spread of these respiratory viruses.

1. Stay up to date with vaccines (vaccines.gov).

2. Seek testing and treatment when sick.

3. Improve airflow and ventilation indoors.

4. Practice good hand hygiene and cover your coughs and sneezes.

5. Stay home when you are sick.

6. Masks can help reduce the amount of germs you breathe in and can help protect others when you are sick.

The CDC has a very informative dashboard to view resources for Flu, COVID-19, and RSV for all age groups at https://www.cdc.gov/respirator.../tools-resources/index.html.
