Summary of incident:  Fire units were dispatched to a report of a fire alarm activation at 25 Ivy Drive.  Car 3 arrived establishing command of a 12-unit apartment building with smoke coming from unit #16.  A first alarm was transmitted at 0028 hours.  Crews found a bedroom and contents fire on the 2nd floor in Unit #16.  A 2nd alarm was sounded at 0031 hours.   Engine 1 crew stretched a hoseline to extinguish the fire and the Ladder 2 crew assisted with evacuation of the three adjacent units.  Upon checking the fire unit, there was no one home at the time of the fire.

The fire alarm worked as it should by alerting the occupants to evacuate the building and notifying the Fire Department.
