Veteran's Day Proclamation- November 11, 2024

Mayor Kahn read a proclamation at the Veteran's Day Ceremony held at the Keene Recreation Center, proclaiming November 11, 2024 Veteran's Day in Keene and urging all civilians, young and old to honor all American veterans who have served in the Armed Forces of the United States of America. The United States of America has a long history of freedom and prosperity, made possible in large part by the selfless sacrifices of its brave men and women in uniform. According to the 2022 American Community Survey, there are approximately 1,453 veterans living in Keene, New Hampshire that have served in a variety of branches and conflicts, including the Army, Navy, Air Force, Marine Corps, and Coast Guard, as well as in conflicts such as World War II, the Korean War, the Vietnam War, the Gulf War, and the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan. These brave patriots have made extraordinary sacrifices, including their lives, to ensure the safety and security of our nation and its citizens. It is fitting that we honor and remember the service and sacrifices of our local veterans, and all other veterans on Veterans Day. In honor of these dedicated men and women, we pledge our continued defense of our nation so that their sacrifice will stand before the entire world as a tribute to the spirit and determination of a people dedicated to the principles of freedom and democracy.
