Mayor Kahn presented a proclamation on January 15th to honor Steve Levy for his nearly five-decade legacy as the owner of Toy City, a Keene landmark since 1972. As Steve enters retirement, the City recognizes his profound commitment to child development and his role as a steward of the “power of play.” Since 1977, Steve has distinguished Toy City by valuing conversation over transaction, famously greeting generations of families with the question, “Tell me about your child,” to ensure every toy was meaningful and rewarding. By championing traditional play through puzzles, blocks, and trains, Steve fostered empathetic connections that bridged generations and strengthened the fabric of the Monadnock region. The City of Keene celebrates Toy City as a testament to imagination and extends its deepest gratitude to Steve for his lifelong generosity and invaluable contributions to our community’s families.
