Construction Projects and Updates

The City of Keene announces several construction activities June 1-5, 2026. Motorists, residents, and pedestrians are advised to plan accordingly, expect delays, and use caution in active work zones.

  • Marlboro Street: On Monday, June 1, 2026 starting at 7:00 AM, the City’s contractor, Bazin Brothers, will be performing full depth road excavation, reconstruction and re-curb setting in Marlboro Street between Baker Street and Eastern Avenue, this work is anticipated to take one week. In order to safely perform this scope of work Marlboro Street at the location(s) of the active construction limits will be established as alternating one way traffic. This traffic setup and associated scope of work is anticipated to be completed by the end of the week. Traffic will be restored to normal operating conditions at the end of each business day during this work.   
  • Bartholomew Court (Public Works) and Cheshire Rail Trail Connector: On , Monday, June 1, 2026 starting at 8:00 AM the City’s contractor, Bazin Brothers, will continue installing concrete sidewalk on Bartholomew Court and the Cheshire Rail Trail connector to Marlboro Street. In order to safely perform this work traffic will be maintained as alternating one way traffic. This work is anticipated to be completed at the end of the week, and traffic will be restored to normal operating conditions at the end of each business day.   
  • Island Street: On Monday June 1, 2026 starting at 8:00 AM the City’s contractor, SUR West, will be preparing the road surface for final paving.  On Tuesday, June 2, 2026 starting at 8:00 AM, the City’s contractor, SUR West, and their subcontractor, BDM, will be performing surface course road paving. In order to safely perform this work Island Street at Winchester Street will be closed and detoured by means of Pearl Street, a traffic lane on West Street will be closed in proximity to Island Street and the park and traffic in proximity to the work zone will be established as alternating one way traffic. This traffic setup and associated scope of work is anticipated to take two days to complete, and traffic will be restored to normal operating conditions at the end of each business day during this work.   
  • City Hall Parking Garage: On Monday, June 1, 2026 starting at 7:00 AM, The City’s contractor, Structural Preservation Systems, will be continuing the installation of concrete repairs for City Parking garage this work will continue all week and is anticipated to take roughly another month to complete the scope of work on the project. 
  • Willow Street: On Monday, June 1, 2026 starting at 8:00 AM the City’s contractor, BC Construction, will continue installing new sidewalk on Willow Street.  In order to safely perform this work Willow Street at the location of active construction will be closed to thru traffic during concrete pouring and established as alternating one way traffic during other periods of active construction.  This work will continue all week and is anticipated to take approximately 3-weeks to install the remaining sidewalk on Willow Street. Traffic will be restored to normal operating conditions at the end of each business day during construction. 
  • Court Street @ Cheshire Medical Center: On Monday, June 1, 2026 starting at 8:00 AM, Faulker Landscaping will be working on the landscaping in the traffic circle island in proximity to the Cheshire Medical Center at 580 Court. The work is anticipated to take two days to completed and is not anticipated to impact normal traffic operations.   
  • George Street Bridge Replacement: On Monday June 1, 2026 starting at 8:00 AM the City’s contractor New England Infrastructure, Inc. be mobilizing to George Street to install the stormwater diversion structures for the bridge demolition phase of the project. In order to safely perform this work George Street in proximity to the work zone will be closed and detoured. This traffic setup and associated scope of work is anticipated to take two days to complete and traffic will be restored to normal operating conditions at the end of each business day during this work.   
  • Court Street: On Monday, June 1, 2026 starting at 1:00 PM, Frank Lucius Construction will be installing a pavement patch for the water service that was installed in proximity to 34 Court Street. In order to safely perform this work Court Street at the location of active construction will be established as alternating one way traffic. This traffic setup and scope of work is anticipated to take the day complete and normal traffic operating conditions will be restored at the end of the working day.    
  • Hillside Avenue: On Monday, June 1, 2026 starting at 8:00 AM CW Davis Construction will be continuing repairs of an existing sewer service lateral in proximity to 41 Hillside Avenue. In order to safely perform this work Hillside Ave at the location of active construction will be established as alternating one way traffic. This traffic setup and scope of work is anticipated to take the day to complete and normal traffic operating conditions will be restored at the end of each working day.   
  • Winchester Street: On Monday, June 1, 2026 starting at 8:00 AM James T. Lynch Construction will be repairing the sidewalk in proximity to 317 Winchester St (McDonalds) . In order to safely perform this work Winchester Street at the location of active construction will be established as shifted traffic. This traffic setup and scope of work is anticipated to take two days to complete and normal traffic operating conditions will be restored at the end of each working day.
