Blue Line Appreciation Proclamation- March 30, 2025

Mayor Kahn presented a proclamation at a Blue Line Appreciation event held at Tempesta’s Restaurant declaring March 30th, 2025, as “Blue Line Appreciation Day” in Keene, to celebrate and honor the dedication and service of the Monadnock area police officers, recognizing their vital role in ensuring the safety and well-being of our community. We first and foremost want to recognize the commitment, dedication and valor of our police officers in Keene and the Monadnock region.  Public safety reinforces resident enjoyment of outdoor activities and festivals throughout the year, and we couldn’t do that without the support of our blue uniformed men and women police officers. Our professional police officers are consistently evolving to meet societal changes with more visual presence in commercial areas, increasing service to people facing homelessness and economic insecurity, dedicated drug enforcement and recovery referral services, increased response to roadway accidents, impaired driving and assault investigations, and backfill for workforce shortages. Our police departments are meeting these demands through increased training and partnerships with cooperating agencies often validated through independent reviewers such as the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies (CALEA) accreditation. We acknowledge the support and affection provided by families to police officers; it is family flexibility and understanding that help officers respond to the demands of their positions. We extend our deepest appreciation to Jim Coppa and Jimmy Tempesta for their unwavering support of police officers and their families as demonstrated by the third annual Blue Line Appreciation Day. The commitment, integrity, professionalism, and perseverance of our law enforcement officers strengthen our communities, not only by fairly enforcing our laws but by building trust, partnerships, and support throughout our communities; and to the men and women of the Monadnock area police departments, we extend our heartfelt gratitude for your dedication and service, as your contributions to our communities are deeply valued.
