The City of Keene announces several construction activities beginning the week of May 18, 2026. Motorists, residents, and pedestrians are advised to plan accordingly, expect delays, and use caution in active work zones.
- Marlboro Street (Main Street Roundabout to Eastern Avenue) – Starting Monday, May 18 at 8:00 AM, the City’s contractor, Bazin Brothers, will mill and excavate pavement between the Main Street/Marlboro Street roundabout and the Marlboro Street/Eastern Avenue intersection. Alternating one-way traffic will be in place during active construction. Work is anticipated to take one week, with completion expected by Friday, May 22. Normal traffic patterns will be restored at the end of each business day.
- East Keene – Beginning Monday, May 18 at 8:00 AM, Insituform will install end seals on sewer main liners and perform pressure testing of sewer manholes in East Keene neighborhoods and surrounding streets. Alternating one-way traffic will be used in active work areas. This work is expected to take approximately three days, with normal traffic restored daily.
- Water Street (near 160 Water Street) – Starting Monday, May 18 at 8:00 AM, BC Construction will install curb and sidewalk near 160 Water Street. Alternating one-way traffic will be in place during construction. Work is anticipated to take three days, with normal traffic restored at the end of each day.
- Magnolia Way – Beginning Monday, May 18 at 9:00 AM, Pappas Construction will excavate and replace sidewalk infrastructure. Traffic may be reduced to alternating one-way, and access may be limited. Work is expected to take one week, with normal conditions restored daily.
- Green Acres Road (near 34 Green Acres Road) – Starting Wednesday, May 20 at 8:00 AM, a contractor will repair a sewer lateral. Traffic will be shifted to accommodate two-way travel through the work zone. This work is expected to be completed in one day, with normal traffic restored by the end of the day.
- North Street (Carroll Street to Gilsum Street) – Beginning Thursday, May 21 at 9:00 AM, City crews will pave North Street between Carroll Street and Gilsum Street. The road will be closed within project limits during construction, with reopening anticipated by 2:00 PM the same day.
- George Street Bridge – No construction work will occur during the week of May 18. The roadway will remain open under normal traffic conditions.
