Hannah Schroeder Proclamation- April 17, 2025

Mayor Kahn presented a proclamation before the City Council meeting on April 17th, 2025 to congratulate Hannah Schroeder for her outstanding achievements and invaluable contributions to visual journalism, enriching our understanding and connection within the Monadnock Region. Hannah Schroeder has served the Keene community with distinction as the Senior Visual Journalist at The Keene Sentinel since her arrival on May 3, 2021. A graduate of Ohio University with a double major in photojournalism and Spanish, Hannah brings a dedicated and educated perspective to her vital work. Through her compelling photographs and videos, Hannah consistently offers a unique and empathetic viewpoint, enriching the storytelling of the diversity of  people in the Monadnock Region, with a particular focus on historically underserved and marginalized communities. Hannah’s passion for multimedia storytelling allows her to deeply connect with local communities, illuminating their experiences and perspectives on a wide range of topics through a compassionate and personal lens. In recognition of her exceptional talent and dedication, Hannah has received numerous accolades, most recently earning first place in the personality photo category and second place in the portrait photo category at the New England Newspaper and Press Association awards on March 29 for her poignant captures of local life, including the wedding of Marilyn and William MacLean at Langdon Place and a tender moment between an owner and her bovine friend at Granite Oak Farm. Her impactful projects, such as the photo essay detailing the struggles of a local unhoused family and the photo essay and video documenting a community Iftar during Ramadan and a family lighting of Hanukkah menorah candles exemplify her commitment to in-depth and meaningful visual narratives.
