Mayor Jay V. Kahn has proclaimed July 2026 as Parks & Recreation Month in the City of Keene, recognizing the important role parks and recreation play in creating a connected, healthy, and vibrant community.
This year’s national theme, “The Power of Parks,” highlights the many ways parks and recreation strengthen communities through connection, play, community, nature, belonging, and well-being. Keene’s parks, trails, open spaces, and recreation programs provide opportunities for residents of all ages to gather, stay active, enjoy nature, build relationships, and participate in community life.
The proclamation also recognizes the dedicated City staff, volunteers, and community partners who help make these experiences possible. Mayor Kahn encourages residents to celebrate “The Power of Parks” by visiting Keene’s parks and trails, participating in recreation programs, and enjoying the City’s open spaces throughout the month and beyond.
