As previously communicated, Casella Construction, Inc will be digging exploratory test pits in Central Square throughout this week. The timeline for completing the test pits has shifted from what was previously communicated, and our contractor will resume work near the intersection of Main and Roxbury Streets first thing Thursday morning.
To allow the contractor to safely perform this work, Roxbury Street will be closed to through traffic between Central Square and Franklin Street from 7:00 AM until early afternoon on Thursday, August 13, 2026. Traffic will be detoured to Beaver Street.
As time permits, our contractor will then shift their efforts to Washington Street, and northbound traffic on Washington Street will be detoured up Court Street to Mechanic Street. Access to local traffic will be maintained throughout the day, and traffic patterns will be returned to normal by approximately 5:00 PM.
