Spring Water System Flushing Resumes 4/20/25

The City of Keene Public Works Department will continue its annual spring water main flushing program on Sunday, April 20th at 10:00 PM. Work will take place overnight from 10:00 PM to 6:00 AM to minimize any inconvenience related to discolored water or traffic disruptions.

This essential maintenance program helps clean mineral deposits from the water mains and ensures that city water valves and fire hydrants remain fully operational for firefighting, main breaks, and other emergencies.

Flushing for the third week is scheduled to conclude at 6:00 AM on Friday, April 25th.

  • Base Hill Road
  • Branch Road
  • Chapman Road
  • Davis Street
  • Drummer Road
  • Evans Circle
  • Evans Lane
  • Gilbo Avenue
  • Green Acres Road
  • Greenwood neighborhood
  • Hastings Avenue
  • Key Road
  • Krif Road
  • Lower Main Street
  • Marlboro Road (Route 101)
  • Marshall Street neighborhood
  • McKinley/Russell Street area
  • Park Avenue
  • Pearl Street
  • River Street
  • Ralston Street
  • Roxbury Road
  • Skyline neighborhood
  • Winchester Street
  • Woodburn Street

We appreciate your patience and understanding during this necessary maintenance, which is expected to run for 3–4 weeks.

If you notice discolored water:

  • Close all taps except one.
  • Run cold water for 10 minutes until it clears.
  • If water remains discolored, close the tap, wait 30 minutes, and try again.

If you experience laundry staining:

  • Do not dry the laundry.
  • Contact Public Works at (603) 352-6550 for a free stain removal product.
