The City of Keene Public Works Department announces the following construction and maintenance activities scheduled for the week of June 15, 2026:
Citywide Pavement Markings (Center & Fog Lines): Beginning Thursday, June 18 at 9:00 PM, the City’s contractor, Pro-Finish Lines, will resume installation of center line and fog line (white line) pavement markings on remaining City-maintained roads. This overnight work is anticipated to take one night, with traffic restored to normal operations by 7:00 AM.
Citywide Pavement Markings (Turning & Traffic Signals): Beginning Monday, June 15 at 9:00 PM, City Highway Division crews will install pavement turning and traffic signal markings on City-maintained streets. Active work zones may require temporary shifted two-way and/or alternating traffic patterns. This work is anticipated to continue throughout the week, with normal traffic operations restored by 6:00 AM each day.
Court Street – Water Service Replacement: Beginning Monday, June 15 at 9:00 PM, MME will replace a water service near 397 Court Street. Temporary shifted two-way and/or alternating traffic may be required. Work is expected to take one week, with normal traffic restored by 6:00 AM daily.
Marlboro Street Reconstruction Project: Beginning Monday, June 15, the City’s contractor, Bazin Brothers, will continue reconstruction work on Marlboro Street from Main Street to Eastern Avenue. Work includes full roadway excavation, paving, and granite curb replacement/resetting. Traffic within the work zone may be reduced to alternating one-way or shifted two-way patterns.
Eastern Avenue / Transportation Heritage Trail (THT): Beginning Monday, June 15, Gordon’s Property Services and Maintenance will continue work near the THT trailhead parking area on Eastern Avenue. Alternating one-way traffic may be in place near the trail crossing. This work is expected to take approximately two weeks, weather permitting, with traffic restored at the end of each workday.
Island Street Pavement Markings: On Friday, June 19 starting at 9:00 AM, SUR West and subcontractors will install pavement markings on Island Street, weather permitting. Alternating one-way traffic will be in place near the work zone. Work is expected to be completed the same day.
City Hall Parking Garage Repairs: Beginning Monday, June 15, Structural Preservation Systems will continue selective demolition and concrete repairs at the City Hall Parking Garage. Work will continue throughout the week and is anticipated to be completed in early July, weather permitting.
Willow Street – Sewer Service Repair: Beginning Monday, June 15, J & M Landscape will repair a sewer service near 13 Willow Street. Traffic will be shifted and intermittently reduced to alternating one-way. Work is expected to take two days, weather permitting, with normal traffic restored at the end of each day.
Willow Street – Sidewalk Installation: Also beginning Monday, June 15, BC Construction will continue excavation and installation of new sidewalk along Willow Street. The road will be closed to through traffic during concrete pours and reduced to alternating one-way traffic at other times. Work is expected to be completed by the end of the week, weather permitting.
Water Street – Tree Removal: On Friday, June 19 starting at 7:00 AM, Wilcox Tree Services will remove a tree near 284 Water Street. Alternating one-way traffic will be in place. Work is expected to be completed the same day.
Beaver Street – Tree Removal: On Friday, June 19 starting at 9:00 AM, Wilcox Tree Services will remove a tree near 63 Beaver Street. Alternating one-way traffic will be in place. Work is expected to be completed the same day.
George Street Bridge Replacement Project: No construction activities are scheduled for the week of June 15. Work is anticipated to resume on Monday, June 22. The City of Keene appreciates the public’s patience and cooperation. Motorists are encouraged to use caution in construction zones, follow posted signage, and expect minor delays.
