Mayor Jay V. Kahn recognized the life and legacy of Dr. Albert C. Johnston, Keene’s first radiologist, and the Johnston family’s contributions to the community.
The proclamation honors Dr. Johnston’s perseverance in the face of racial discrimination and recognizes the lasting impact of his medical career and civic contributions. It also celebrates the City’s first contribution to the Black Heritage Trail of New Hampshire—a historical marker at 127 Washington Street—and the community organizations and individuals who helped preserve and share the Johnston family’s story.
