2025 Road Rehabilitation Project

The City of Keene will begin construction activities for the 2025 Road Rehabilitation Project on Friday, April 18, 2025. This important infrastructure initiative will enhance roadway conditions across multiple neighborhoods, improving travel safety and long-term durability.

The first phase of work includes milling existing road surfaces in preparation for new asphalt. Following that, utility structure adjustments and base repairs will be performed where needed. Once completed, crews will install an intermediate asphalt course, followed by the final road-wearing surface. Weather permitting, this process is expected to be completed in approximately three weeks.

Tentative Construction Schedule:

  • Friday, April 18: Bank Street, Thornton Way, Warren Street
  • Wednesday, April 23: Stanhope Avenue
  • Thursday, April 24: Cedar Street, Cone Street, Needle Street
  • May (Date TBD): Hamden Drive, Iceland Circle, Stanton Court, Worcester Street, Robbins Court, and Robbins Road
  • May/June (Date TBD): Queens Road, Sawyer Road, Russell Street, Wheelock Street, and Winchester Street (from Main Street to the Ashuelot River)

Updates will be shared as work progresses and start dates are finalized.

Traffic Impacts:
Residents and travelers should prepare for temporary driveway access limitations. Roads will be closed to through-traffic daily between 7:00 AM and 5:00 PM, or until daily operations conclude.

Motorists are asked to:

  • Use extra caution in work zones
  • Watch for construction workers and equipment
  • Follow traffic control personnel instructions
  • Slow down and be mindful of raised utility structures on uneven roadways

We appreciate the public’s patience and cooperation as it undertakes these vital improvements.
