The City of Keene Public Works Department announces the following construction activities and traffic impacts for April 17-21, 2026. Please plan ahead, use caution, and follow all posted traffic control.
- Pine Street – Friday, April 17 (7:30 AM start) – Phil’s Tree Service will be removing a tree near 33 Pine Street. To safely complete this work, Pine Street will be closed and detoured. The work is anticipated to be completed and traffic restored to normal operations by 3:00 PM.
- George Street Bridge – Saturday, April 18 – The City’s contractor, New England Infrastructure, Inc., will be working near #44 George Street to replace the existing sewer as part of the George Street Bridge Replacement Project. George Street at this location will be closed and detoured to allow the work to be performed safely. Traffic is expected to return to normal operations by 4:00 PM.
- City Hall Parking Garage Project – April 20 – The City’s contractor, Structural Preservation Systems, Inc., will begin construction for the rehabilitation of the City Hall Parking Garage. During construction, portions of both the upper and lower levels will be closed to safely accommodate the work. Additional updates will be provided as the project progresses.
- 438 Washington Street – April 21 (10:00 AM start) – LaRoch and Sons will be performing sewer invert work. During construction, traffic on Washington Street will be reduced to alternating one-way traffic. Motorists are encouraged to avoid the area if possible. This work is anticipated to be completed by 1:00 PM.
