Mayor Kahn presented the KHS Boys Wrestling team with a proclamation to recognize and commend the KHS Boys Wrestling Team, and coaches for their exceptional 2024-2025 season. Their accomplishments highlight the value of youth sports programs at the elementary and middle school years making our local student-athletes more competitive on the statewide and New England stage. Keene High School Boys Wrestling Team achieved an exceptionally successful season demonstrating remarkable skill, dedication, and sportsmanship and marking historic milestones for the team. This season has been truly historic, with the team celebrating two individual champions at the New Hampshire Meet of Champions—a feat not achieved since 1998—and boasting three wrestlers reaching 100 career victories, a milestone unseen since the mid-1980s. Adding to the season’s accolades, Head Coach Bill Gillard was named Division 1 Wrestling Coach of the Year, a testament to his leadership and the collective effort of his assistant coaches: Ian Spencer, Carter Spencer, Jeff Johnson, Marc Trubiano, and Kyle Higgins. Senior Carter Trubiano achieved an impressive career record of 126 wins and 45 losses, His accomplishments include 3x Division 1 Place Winner, 3x New England Qualifier, 6th place at the 2023 New England Wrestling Championship at 126 lbs, and 1st place at the 2025 NH Meet of Champions at 126 lbs. Senior Evan Ray achieved a remarkable 108-22 career record, including 3x Division 1 Champion, 1st place at the 2024 NH Meet of Champions at 285 lbs, and 4th place at the 2024 Lowell Holiday Invitational at 285 lbs. Senior Peyton Gowell compiled a stellar 129-45 career record, earning 4x Division 1 Place Winner, 5th place at the 2023 NH Meet of Champions at 132 lbs, and 4th place at the 2024 Lowell Holiday Invitational at 132 lbs. Sophomore Leo Runez achieved a notable 76-18 record, earning 3rd place for Division 1 in 2025 at 144lbs, and 1st place at the 2025 NH Meet of Champions at 144 lbs, becoming the first sophomore to win the NH Meet of Champions since 1985. These individual accomplishments, combined with the team’s collective success, including 3rd place in Division I and 4th place at the Meet of Champions, stand as a testament to the hard work, dedication, and talent of the KHS athletes and coaching staff.
