Monadnock View Community Gardens

We are thrilled to launch the first season of the Monadnock View Community Gardens in our relocated site, expanding opportunities to plant, harvest, and connect. Our MVCG pamphlet outlines everything you need to know; plot rental applications will be accepted at Keene Parks & Recreation beginning February 11, 2026.

Goose Pond Spillway Bridge Donation Program

The Greater Goose Pond Forest is a 1,000+ acre community treasure. Our stewardship community and volunteers built the spillway bridge in November 2025, making Goose Pond Loop Trail a true loop. There is still more to do. In the summer-fall of 2026, we will finish the accessibility components of the bridge – and we need your help. Every donation will continue to be matched – dollar for dollar up to $10,000 – through the generosity of the Savings Bank of Walpole. We’re $1100 away from our goal!

KPRD Community Call: Let’s Talk Red Pine Scale

We brought together state, county, community, and urban foresters for a quick, informative online session about this invasive pest threatening our red pines on Tuesday, October 7th from 6:00-6:30pm. Check out the video recording of the session. Join KPRD to learn more about harvesting plans at the February 25th MSFI meeting.

Winter Special Events

We love to engage our community during the winter months – indoors and out – with affordable pop-up programs and free events. Check out what we have to offer this month!

Public Winter Recreation

We offer groomed cross country ski and snowshoe loops in Ladies Wildwood Park and in Wheelock Park available from dawn to dusk daily. Looking to skate? KPRD maintains three ice surfaces: Robin Hood Pond, Wheelock Park Rink, and Wheelock Park Kiddie Rink. While we do not offer skate rentals, lights in these park areas are on until 10pm daily.

Please observe & adhere to any thin ice signage. Our team checks ice thickness regularly and safety is always our top priority. Temperatures are fluctuating (an ice maintenance challenge) and there are lots of opportunities to #GetOutside safely.

No School? No Problem!

We enjoy school vacation weeks and this February looks like one for the books – “Field Trip February” with a KPRD Favorite to round out the week. All programs are open for registration. Join us.

KPRD Basketball is in Full Swing

With weekday leagues (4th-5th grade, Middle School Development, High School 3v3) and weekend leagues (K-1st grade, 2nd-3rd grade, Men’s League) our gymnasium is THE place to be!
