“The Power of Water” Screening and Discussion Will Be Hosted at Keene Public Library

The discussion panel will include the subject of the film, local environmentalist and entrepreneur Bob King.

On Tuesday June 18th the library will be hosting a public viewing of the short documentary film: “The Power of Water. The film will be followed by a panel discussion including Bob King, Matthew Myer Boulton, creative director and producer, and Ryan Owens, executive director of Monadnock Conservancy. “The Power of Water” follows the story of Bob King, a New Hampshire entrepreneur based in Keene, NH, whose life’s work has been rehabilitating old, abandoned dams to produce clean energy. Along the way, the film explores the history of hydropower in New England, the ongoing transition away from dirty fossil energy, the importance of land conservation, and how we all can be part of the solution as we face these challenges together.

The film was recently shown at the Colonial Theater’s Showroom here in Keene, sponsored by the Historical Society of Cheshire County. KPL approached Mr. King about doing a viewing and discussion with the hope of reaching even more members of the public. The panel will offer insight into local efforts toward conservation and clean energy and hopes to engage in thoughtful discussion about how to face environmental challenges as a community. The event starts at 6:30pm on June 18th in the Ruth Huntress Auditorium and is free and open to all.
