Library Kids Comic Club Kicks Off with Superhero Drawing Workshop

Aspiring young creators to explore the world of comics with artist Ryan L. Higgins.

Calling all comic fans! Keene Public Library’s new Comic Club welcomes readers, writers, and artists ages 8-12 to create together and discuss great graphic novels. The club will meet on the second Friday of each month. Meetings will feature interviews with favorite creators, drawing tutorials, and tips on getting started with your own comics. All skill levels welcome! Join us for the first official meeting of the KPL Comic Club on November 8th at 4:30pm.

To kick us off, Ryan L. Higgins, the creator of Lazer Brain Comics, will lead a How To Draw Comic Book Characters workshop at the library on Friday, October 11th from 4:30-5:30pm. Learn to draw the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles in celebration of their 40th anniversary and meet Ryan’s own superhero the Righteous Red Cat! Step-by-step instructions will show how our favorite characters are built from basic shapes. Materials will be provided, just bring your imagination and love of comics!
