Mayor Kahn presented the Keene High School Girl's Field Hockey Team with a proclamation declaring Friday, November 8th, 2024, Keene High School Women’s Field Hockey Day, congratulating the team’s undefeated season and state championship title. Head coach Michelle Tiani’s Varsity coaching career at KHS began in 2010 after previously coaching Freshman and JV and starting the Trilogy Field Hockey club fostering girl’s athleticism, teamwork, and excellence from an early age. She recently achieved her 100th career win at the quarterfinal game against Bishop Guertin. Coach Jodie Ballaro has been assisting the KHS program for 6 seasons, starting in 2003-2006 with the freshman team and later at Keene Middle School. The offensive attack who scored the most goals in Division 1 this season, was comprised of Cece Walier, Scarlett Miller, Maya Stebbins, Maddie Boudle, Lilly Vitters, Harper Zalaski and Olive Thatcher. The midfield controlled games all season with the support of Lola Ballaro and the great play of McKenna Nelson, who set the single season scoring record with 17 goals and 7 assists as well as senior Sofia Miller earned her 100th high school career point at the semi-final game against Pinkerton. The defensive players allowed the fewest goals in Division 1, with the assistance of sophomore goalie Dayna English, and led by senior Lily Rowell who earned her 12th shutout in the Championship Game. The defensive crew of Avery Allaire, Natalia Gillis, Emily Antosiewicz, Emma Petrovich, Paige Ells, Sarah Weber and Ella Rice pushed back against the strongest offensive attacks in Division 1. The JV teammates, KHS community, team manager Andy Alquist with booster families, parents and fans spent countless hours helping support the dreams and efforts of these athletes, providing them with the resources needed to work on their skills and towards their dreams.
