Stories to Go is a service of the Keene Public Library that provides youth librarians in your classroom or child care center or Storytelling Kits, which are loaned to teachers, parents, and caregivers. These kits contain a selection of materials for young children organized around a theme, checked out together in a bag for your convenience. The kits are funded by the Endowment Fund of the Trustees of the Keene Public Library.
Most Storytelling Kits include:
- A selection of picture books on a theme.
- CDs or DVDs relating to the theme.
- A Flannel Board story to share.
- A puppet or other toy.
- A list of activities related to the theme, including rhymes and fingerplays.
Keene Public Library also circulates STEM kits for families. These kits include learning tools and toys such as unit blocks, scales, simple machines, binoculars for birdwatching, and more.
Each kit circulates for four weeks and may be renewed if no outstanding holds exist. Kits can be reserved through the online catalog or by calling the library's Youth Department at (603) 757-1856.
As part of Stories To Go, a Keene Public Library Youth Librarian may be available to visit your daycare center or school. Please call the Youth Department at (603) 757-1856 to schedule a visit from one of our librarians.
