On Saturday July 14, 2018, the Keene Fire Department was dispatched at 1623 hours to a fire in a residence at 47 Schultz Street.
Engine 2, Ladder 2 and Car 3 arrived on-scene at 1627 hours with heavy smoke showing in a mobile home. The engine crews stretched handlines to extinguish the fire. A 2nd alarm was sounded at 1628 hours for additional units and manpower to the scene to assist.
The fire was quickly extinguished and the 2nd alarm units were cancelled. The fire crews continued to check for extension in the attic. The fire was called under control at 1640 hours.
Keene crews were assisted on scene by Swanzey Fire and DiLuzio Ambulance. Additional crews from Spofford, Brattleboro, Marlborough, Chesterfield and Walpole were called to assist but eventually cancelled.
One subject was assessed for smoke inhalation, however, refused transport to the hospital.
The cause of the fire was found to be a bathroom fan. The Keene Fire Department Fire Investigation Unit will continue to investigate a reason for the fire. Fire damage is estimated at $5,000 dollars.
